Happy New Year to all you little pickle fans, we hope you all had a very restful and relaxing holiday break. Ours was interspersed with relaxing and working but we had a very Merry Christmas. We also took a quick trip to the north of France to see some family and celebrate a 60th wedding anniversary. Needless to say, food was a focal point of our break! We have certainly had our fill of pastries, wine and chocolate for some time.

Now time to crack on with 2017! At this is the time you can feel one of two ways, either rejuvenated and raring to go or sluggish and sloth like after all the indulgent eating, drinking and lazy days. At Little Pickle towers we are feeling the former; we are feeling ready for the year ahead! Our third year as a company, and excited for all the wonderful events we already have in the calendar. 2016 was a transformative year for us; the business grew to be able to support an extra member of staff, we partnered up with The Cotswolds Distillery to create five new products and we held several pop ups, attended dozens of food fairs and markets, not to mention all the private dinners, birthdays, engagements, anniversaries and parties. It was also the year that we got married so personally it was pretty mega too!

We think its important to keep a positive attitude in January and start the year off with lots of things to look forward to. Whether this means booking your summer holiday or simply getting your cupboards organised so you can have a tidy start to the year. Food is so important to give you a positive outlook and keep you feeling great. January is full of diets and detoxes but we think that you can get brilliant flavour from using simple fresh produce and it doesn’t have to taste like rabbit feed or break the bank! Slow cooking is great in January, when time is tight but you want a healthy dinner. Putting together a cheaper cut of meat such as pork knuckle, with seasonal vegetables and some stock, cooking for several hours and you’ll have a delicious pork stew which will last you a few meals. Wholesome, tasty food which will keep you going and keep a smile on your face.

We have got lots of events to keep us busy already this year, lots of food festivals as well as weddings and various events to cater for. We are currently putting together our pop-up calendar for the year but our first one is going to be held on Friday 27th January at Sheldon’s Wine Cellar in Shipston – why not come along and ward off those January Blues!
